Bobby Hutcherson Quartet with Special Guest Nicholas Payton

Radiating warmth both on and off stage, Bobby Hutcherson has made his mark on jazz history as the preeminent vibraphonist of his generation and is today, the reigning master of the modern vibes. A professional musician since age 12, trumpet wizard Nicholas Payton spent his high school years at the New Orleans Center Creative Arts studying with Clyde Kerr Jr. and then at the University of New Orleans where he studied with Ellis Marsalis.

Men are Neanderthals, women are hunters and gatherers, or something, in this long-touring one-man show written by Rob Becker. Some people find Becker's joke-fest of stereotypical distinctions between the sexes hilarious. Others find it about as much fun as a date with a dinosaur.

The Jessica Williams Trio

This two-time Grammy Nominee was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and classically trained at the Peabody Conservatory of Music. The Jessica Williams Trio, featuring Jeff Johnson and Steven Bentley, will perform for two nights, as part of a live CD recording.

Festival for the Birds
Saturday, May 17; 9:30 AM to 3 PM
Woodland Park Zoo, Seattle
In celebration of International Migratory Bird Day, Woodland Park Zoo's Festival for the Birds pays tribute to the world's migratory bird species. Flock to the Family farm and enjoy a variety of activities and bird demonstrations to help you rediscover some of the wildlife in your own backyard. Activities are free with zoo admission or membership.

Terry Evans

Rockfish Grill, Anacortes
As a solo artist, Terry Evans has released several recordings including 2005's excellent, Fire in the Feeling. He has also recorded with some of the top people in the music business including Boz Skaggs, Maria Muldaur, John Lee Hooker and John Fogerty. He has been a member of Ry Cooder's band since 1976 when he and singing partner, Bobby King, joined Cooder for "Chicken Skin Music".
