Dick Durbin Praises Military On Cargo Ship Hostage Rescue
(2009-04-13)
(wsiu) - U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin is praising the efforts of the U.S. military that rescued a cargo ship captain who was held hostage by pirates for five days.
Capt. Richard Phillips was rescued by Navy Seals off of the horn of Africa.
U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin applauds the efforts of everyone who worked to rescue a cargo ship captain off of the horn of Africa.
The recent high-seas hostage event has led to a debate over how seagoing vessels should best defend themselves against such attacks. While Durbin doesn't think it best to man cargo ships with U.S. soldiers, he believes the issue of arming crew members with weapons should be revisited.
Speaking today, Obama told reports that the United States must halt an increasing threat of piracy off the coast of lawless Somalia.
