A Traveling Exhibit Honoring Paul Simon Is Coming This Fall
A traveling exhibit will debut this October at SIU-Carbondale to honor the career of the former U.S Senator.
The Special Collections Research Center at Morris Library is developing the exhibit thanks to an Illinois Humanities Council grant to coincide with the opening of the Simon papers.
Center director Pam Hackbart-Dean says the exhibit will travel to Chicago, Troy, Benton and maybe beyond.
She says the exhibit will feature his 1988 presidential campaign and ties to current President Barack Obama, as well as his foreign relations and legislative work. Simon artifacts will also be included such as the typewriter used in much of his writing and of course one of his famous bowties.
More information about the exhibit will be forthcoming when we get closer to the kick off in October.
