Carbondale Man Sought in Thebes Shooting

(wsiu) - A Carbondale man is wanted in connection with a shooting last (Tues) night in Thebes.

Illinois State Police say two people were shot in the parking lot at Mary Alice Meadows Public Housing.

The alleged shooter, 24-year-old Dion Meadows of Carbondale, reportedly became involved in a verbal altercation with one victim. Meadows got into his vehicle and fired gunshots, hitting two victims. He then fled the scene. The Alexander County State's Attorney has issued a warrant for Aggravated Battery with a Firearm.

The victims were taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau for treatment. One victim was seriously hurt; the other received non-life threatening injuries. The names of the victims are being withheld at this time.

The Illinois State Police is asking for the public's help in locating the suspect. The suspect is known to drive a gold 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass, Illinois registration H537030.
