New Hospital for Pinckneyville Still a Possibility
The hospital's board of directors is now deciding whether to go ahead with plans to build a brand new building or renovate the current structure.
Hospital administrator Tom Hudgins says the board would still prefer to build a new hospital.
Hudgins says renovating the current structure could lead to disruptions of the day-to-day operations within the hospital. He says it would also mean highly regulated asbestos abatement.
Hudgins will meet with architects and contractors today (Thurs) in Nashville, Tennessee to talk about revising the construction plans to reduce the cost from $34 million to around $20 million.
