(wsiu) - If you are in a college classroom in Illinois, chances are the teacher is Caucasian. The governing body over colleges and universities says it's working to change that.

Illinois Board of Higher Education Spokesman Don Sevener says a diversification program - Diversifying Faculty in Illinois Higher Education - is trying to increase minority representation at the front of the classroom.

Sevener says the Diversifying Faculty in Illinois Higher Education program is rolling out a web site he hopes will increase those efforts.

Sevener says among public and private colleges and universities in Illinois, the faculty is 5% African-American and 3% Hispanic.
