In keeping with our mission to serve our community with news, information, and entertainment to encourage dialog, understanding, and engagement; WYSO’s on-air hosts will read select events from the online Community Calendar live on-air at their discretion on an unscheduled and intermittent basis. Community Calendar Announcements are made on-air to inform listeners in our area of upcoming events and activities and/or public health and safety updates. Because these are non-commercial announcements they are broadcast as a free community service. Those interested in announcements regarding commercial services or events may contact Stephanie Elsass at 937-769-1388 or selsass@wyso.org. Entries to the Community Events Calendar are subject to approval by WYSO staff before publication or broadcast. Anyone in the community may submit an event to the Community Events Calendar; however, when or whether an announcement is read on-air will be at the discretion of our staff. Air time is limited and we cannot guarantee any Community Calendar submission will be broadcast. On-air announcements will generally be limited to 501c3 non-profit organizations operating within the WYSO listening area for publicizing events or services, or for requesting volunteers. Please be aware that we are unable to determine in advance if, how often, or when, a particular announcement will air. Because this is a free service, we are obligated to fulfill orders for paid underwriting announcements first. If you would like a guaranteed announcement at a certain time, please contact Stephanie Elsass or visit the WYSO Underwriting page. If a particular announcement is not read on air, it will remain available to view in the Community Calendar online. You must use the online Community Calendar submission form. Due to the number of submissions, announcements in press release format will not be considered. (If you think your event is unique and has news value, you may submit a press release to news@wyso.org.) Pre-recorded PSA’s are not accepted under any circumstances. WYSO reserves the right to review and refuse any announcement and is under no obligation to broadcast any information. WYSO assumes no liability for anything that may result from the information aired. WYSO also reserves the right to rewrite or edit your submission for clarity, accuracy, and adherence to broadcast standards.
